For several years, I have been getting informal requests to start a podcast or channel. One person said she needed to listen to me speaking or watch me on her screen talking about anything. As long as I am the one speaking on the other side of the audio or screen. Of course, I laughed out loud. But I knew that she was right because I couldn’t be getting the same request from so many people. Well, I decided to go ahead and do this.

My channel, which will also feature some recorded podcasts is officially launched on YouTube a few days ago. I have decided to name the channel Science Speaks because it is largely about giving a voice to the world of science. Historically, science has been a field of study that does not incorporate itself much with the media which means it hardly reaches the general public. In fact, we have narrowed our avenues towards scientific publications which are extremely classist, are gate kept and do not allow everyone to be part of the largely white elite circles of scientific researchers. All this therefore means that the research we do is not understood by anyone outside of our immediate circles. This needs to change!
