I had the privilege of attending a major Oil and Gas Conference, where I joined industry leaders, government ministers, scientists, and policymakers to explore the evolving energy landscape in Africa. Representing Ulwazi Scientific Communications and STEM Research, I immersed myself in high-level conversations around offshore exploration, sustainability, and the intersection of science, policy, and public engagement.

One of the standout moments from the conference was being interviewed by several major television channels, including SABC and Nigeriaās Channels Television News. I spoke on critical issues surrounding sustainable offshore exploration and development and the importance of implementing strong policy and legal frameworks to ensure long-term environmental and economic stability. It was an honour to share my perspective on how science, law, and the local context must inform Africa’s approach to energy development.

The networking opportunities at this event were equally valuable. I connected with government ministers and key role players across the oil and gas industry. Many expressed a growing interest in integrating science communication into their strategic approaches. These engagements werenāt just inspiring, they were transformative.
As a direct outcome of the conference, Ulwazi has been invited to facilitate a Science Communication Workshop for a prominent oil and gas company operating within the geosciences space. This is a meaningful win, not only for our team but also for the broader vision of bridging the gap between science and industry. Our workshops support industry professionals in communicating their research, findings, and operations more clearly, confidently, and effectively to stakeholders, communities, and decision-makers.

At Ulwazi, we believe that effective science communication is not a ānice to haveā; itās a strategic tool for innovation, impact, and accountability. Iām proud to bring this perspective to the energy sector and look forward to many more collaborations ahead.
This is just the beginning for us.
